Journal History

The International Journal of Educational Contemporary Explorations (IJECE) was established on 11 November 2023 as part of the scholarly publishing initiatives of VirtualRealia.Org, an international academic organization based in the Philippines and Oman. The journal was created to provide a dedicated platform for contemporary educational research, responding to the rapid shifts in global education driven by technological advancement, policy reforms, cultural change, and evolving learner needs.

IJECE began with a goal of supporting researchers, educators, and practitioners who sought to examine modern educational issues through empirical, theoretical, and interdisciplinary work. From its inception, the journal adopted a double-blind peer review system and a full open-access model without article processing charges, reflecting its commitment to equitable and ethical knowledge dissemination.

During its initial development phase, IJECE established a diverse Editorial Board composed of scholars from various disciplines within the humanities and social sciences. The journal refined its aims and scope to encompass a wide range of contemporary educational concerns, including pedagogy, digital learning, leadership, inclusion, cultural text analysis, and cross-cultural educational narratives.

Since its founding, IJECE has continued to strengthen its editorial processes, expand its reviewer network, and maintain transparency through COPE-aligned publication ethics. Its biannual publication schedule (January–June and July–December) supports ongoing scholarly dialogue and ensures that contemporary issues in education remain timely and accessible to readers across regions.

As part of VirtualRealia.Org’s growing portfolio of academic journals, IJECE contributes to a broader mission of developing high-quality, open-access research environments. Its work supports the vision of building interconnected scholarly communities that promote academic rigor, global collaboration, and meaningful educational advancement.
